EDUCATION IS THE NEW BISON

EDUCATION IS THE NEW BISON - Sculpture

StateCraft completed the sculpture entitled "Education is the new Bison" in collaboration with artist Val Vint and the Winnipeg Architecture Foundation. As a nod to Winnipeg's rich indigenous culture, the 12-foot public art installation stands in Winnipeg, Canada and represents StateCraft's commitment to expert fabrication to meet client need.

The towering sculpture is composed of over 200 steel books and articles by indigenous authors stacked together in the shape of a bison. Each book was a unique construction with individual titles laser etched onto the cover and spine. StateCraft designers first constructed the client's vision digitally. Our in house engineers used precise modeling software to ensure each unique book was located exactly within the structural 3D frame to create the envisioned outer bison shape.

Using our team's expertise on welding and fastening methods, we brought together the hundreds of books constructed from stainless and Corten steel sheets. The diverse expertise of our StateCraft team stems from our 50 years of experience, allowing us to deliver the complete spectrum of solutions to our customers, from digital design all the way to final fabrication.
