Located in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, 508 Powell Street is a mixed-use affordable housing project delivering 114 residential units—including 25 accessible homes—and vital community services. The LEED-standard building supports low-income seniors, Indigenous residents, women fleeing domestic violence, newcomers, and families.

StateCraft designed, engineered, and fabricated over 130 custom aluminum sunshades for the project. Built with powder-coated aluminum panels and precision-welded knife plates, the sunshades were coordinated with the envelope system and installed with embedded supports ahead of siding completion. These systems not only enhance solar protection and occupant comfort but also contribute to the building’s modern, functional aesthetic.

By integrating early with the project team, StateCraft ensured accurate fitment, smooth installation, and long-term performance—supporting both the architectural vision and the social mission behind this development.
